DESCRIPTION

New long-term temporary opportunity available through Temporary Employment Services. The Sustainability Data Analyst will provide essential project support in developing UC San Diego’s comprehensive sustainability report, the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS), in adherence with the UC Sustainable Practices Policy. This role is critical to ensure the timely submission of the STARS report, required every three years, with a deadline set for this summer.

Key Responsibilities:

* Support the development and completion of the STARS report curriculum and research credits per the STARS 2.2 requirements.

* Conduct a thorough review and documentation of all sustainability-related courses and research areas at UC San Diego.

* Assist the Campus Sustainability Officer in developing additional credits as necessary, including those related to engagement, operations, and planning & administration.

* Act as an internal reviewer for the overall report submission, ensuring consistency with the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) STARS criteria.

* Collaborate with department units, subject matter experts, and communication professionals across the organization to leverage and integrate sustainability efforts effectively.

  • Anticipated duration: 6 months
  • Compensation: $30 - $34 / hour, including paid holidays and vacation/sick leave. Full-medical insurance also available.
  • Location: Open to fully remote work; also open to a hybrid/remote arrangement: 1 - 2 days per week on-site. On-site work will be at the main La Jolla campus.
  • Work schedule: Mon - Fri, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor’s degree in Data Analysis or a related field.

* Demonstrated ability to analyze, research, and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

* Proficient in data management tools and software.

* Working knowledge of sustainability is preferred, but not required.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $56,700 - $97,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $27.16 - $46.70

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
