DESCRIPTION

Under supervision, the Stores Worker will operate electric and gas powered forklift trucks, pallet movers, pallet jacks, hand trucks and other material handling equipment to move and store material in designated warehouse or yard areas adhering to safety procedures. Load and unload delivery trucks, palletize and move materials to designated locations. Assist in the unpacking and checking of incoming material against invoices or bills of lading to verify items and quantities received. Identify and notify supervisor of any discrepancies or obvious damage. Record all items received in Maximo Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Inventory Module. Assist walk-in and phone customers; fill and process over-the-counter orders. Assure that all security measures are maintained to protect the storage area.

  • May be required to work overtime. May be required to work alternate work schedule including evening, weekends and holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • One (1) year of experience in warehouse or stores work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of receiving procedures.

  • Demonstrated experience safely operating material handling equipment including electric and gas powered forklift trucks, pallet movers, pallet jacks and hand trucks.

  • Demonstrated experience working with purchase orders, packing slips, requisitions and other material handling forms.

  • Demonstrated experience keeping orderly files and records of shipments received. Experience completing basic paper forms and logs.

  • Proven ability to perform mathematical calculations.

  • Basic computer skills to check email, enter time and material data and to complete electronic forms, work orders and timekeeping processes.

  • Proven ability to successfully work in a stressful, high volume environment with constantly changing priorities. Ability to maintain acceptable work habits, punctuality, regularity of attendance and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing or electronically. Ability to build and maintain customer relationships through a professional approach in handling customer's needs and problems.

  • Ability to adhere to the values of the UC San Diego Principles of Community. Ability to effectively work individually or in teams as well as with diverse groups.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • FBI/DOJ and DMV background checks and clearances required prior to hire.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver License and participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Forklift Certification.

  • Must be able to perform heavy manual tasks.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $40,987 - $54,058 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $19.63 - $25.89

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
