DESCRIPTION

The University of California, San Diego Health System is seeking a talented Storage Engineer with an exceptional commitment to service excellence to join its team. As a Storage Engineer, you will be an integral member of the Information Services Infrastructure team, collaborating with diverse and talented team members to help solve multidimensional information technology problems, improve customer experience, and generate value for our stakeholders across a broad base of departments and constituencies.

In conjunction with the Storage team, the incumbent provides system analysis, maintenance, and monitoring of storage and backup systems including installations, upgrades, patches, as well as documentation with primary responsibility for the implementation, management, support and maintenance of various storage and backup system software products and hardware components that comprise enterprise computing infrastructure. Manages and supports the systems/hardware infrastructure and associated resources.

Provides 7x24 problem management support and resolution for all storage and backup applications and systems as part of the on-call rotation. Possesses in-depth knowledge of storage and backup design, implementation, and management. Provides consultation and knowledge transfer regarding system design, administration techniques, and software components. Has a solid background in technical writing and documentation.

The successful candidate will assist with management, maintenance, monitoring, and security of all Health System enterprise storage and backup systems. The Storage Engineer acts as a tier 3 support specialist for other teams in the organization and collaborates with other Health System and Campus based teams as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training. Related Experience: storage infrastructure deployment, operation and maintenance.

  • Advanced knowledge of systems integration deploying complex systems integration solutions.

  • Advanced skills associated with system integration design, modification, implementation and deployment in a complex environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop complex conversion and system implementation plans.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience designing, implementing, and administering NetApp storage systems.

  • Experience designing, implementing, and administering Brocade fiber channel switches.

  • Experience designing, implementing, and administering Pure storage systems.

  • Experience designing, implementing, and administering Rubrik Enterprise Edition.

  • Experience designing, implementing, and administering cloud-based storage and backup solutions.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $101,200 - $192,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $48.47 - $92.05

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
