Depending on experience of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the Speech Language Pathologist level or Sr. Speech Language Pathologist level. Sr. level requires three years licensed experience.

DESCRIPTION

The Department of Otolaryngology at the University of California San Diego is seeking a full-time clinical speech pathologist. Clinical care will be rendered in an outpatient, tertiary academic medical setting, at the Center for Voice & Swallowing.

The applicant will be responsible for delivering SLP services including evaluation and treatment of voice, swallowing, breathing, and cough disorders in a multi-disciplinary environment. Advanced skill in performing modified barium swallow studies, videostroboscopy, and flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) is essential. The applicant will also be responsible for timely documentation, development of treatment goals, billing, and adherence to the UCSD Health System core values.

Aside from clinical activity, participation in research, resident training, community education, and program development will be encouraged.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an educational institution approved by the Board of Speech-Language Pathology, passage of a Board-approved examination.

  • Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - issued by the state of California.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Certificate of clinical competence in speech pathology awarded by the American Speech and Hearing Association.

  • A minimum of three (3) years experience as a licensed speech pathologist to be considered for the Sr. level position. No post licensure experience needed for the non Sr. level position.

  • Competency in voice, swallowing and airway disorders.

  • Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year.

  • Competency with performing and interpreting videostroboscopy, FEES, and fluroscopic swallowing studies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working in a large healthcare environment.

  • Interest and/or experience in clinical research.

  • Interest and/or experience in performance voice.

  • Interest and/or experience in gender affirming voice care.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $106,885 - $141,065 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $51.19 - $67.56

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
