This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at La Jolla and remote.

Under the supervision of the Content Strategist the Senior Social Media Strategist implements, maintains and measures a strategic and comprehensive social media strategy for UC San Diego Health utilizing social media channels including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram. The strategy will tightly align with the broader digital marketing goals and UC San Diego Health’s patient and reputation engagement strategy. Additionally, the senior strategist monitors and measures the efficacy of strategies and tactics and continuously evolves strategy to drive interest, interaction and proliferation of connections among target audiences. The Senior Social Media Strategist develops the content strategy, maintains the content calendar, and creates emotionally engaging, relevant, content for consumers, patients and physicians across digital channels. The Senior Social Media Strategist in conjunction with compliance implements, manages and communicates the institutional social media policy across UC San Diego Health. The Senior Social Media Strategist works closely with all areas of Marketing and Communications, as well as others throughout UC San Diego Health.
A Bachelor's Degree in digital content development; and/or equivalent experience/training.
Minimum of five (5+) or more years of relevant experience in digital content development.
Experience and proven success in fundamentals of digital communications design and implementation.
- Previous health care social media experience.
- Previous experience in digital communications or journalism, and health care.
- Basic knowledge of HTML.
- Technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and recognized expertise in problem-solving.
- Advanced experience and skills to maintain complex digital properties and develop, enhance and maintain a variety of them for a broad audience.
- Advanced knowledge of and experience with social media platforms, including both organic and paid.
- Strong project management skills, and experience in meeting deadlines, follow-through on assignments, ability to effectively take direction, attend meetings and communicate about the details of any assignment and manage multiple competing priorities.
- Demonstrated personal initiative and strong multitasking skills.
- Superior writing, editing and storytelling skills.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
