DESCRIPTION

Neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases are characterized by neuroinflammation and protein misfiling and accumulation, but also present with major disruptions in the transcriptome and epigenome, as described by our group. The work is focused on epigenetic mechanisms that govern gene expression and the alterations of these systems in Alzheimer’s disease, including circadian rhythmicity. The work involves applying cellular and mouse models, CRISPR and Cre/flox tools, in addition to cutting-edge transcription and epigenetic methodology and data analysis. Another aspect of the study is exploring epigenetic signals as biomarkers for diagnosis and disease progression, a highly-innovative project.

The Senior Research Associate will manage and coordinate research efforts with other collaborators both within and outside the laboratory. They will independently conceive, plan, and conduct research projects based on reviews of scientific literature and recent advances in related fields, organizing and executing all techniques involved.
