The 8th floor at Hillcrest Medical Center treats a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions such as tuberculosis infection, COPD, sickle-cell crisis, cellulitis and diabetes. Nurses on this unit often have the opportunity to become well-versed in the treatment of liver and kidney diseases, COPD, diabetes and other chronic medical conditions. Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously, consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care. All performance expectations associated with this position are performed at the PRACTITIONER Level.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
RN license issued by the State of California.
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
A minimum of two (2) years of inpatient acute care RN experience, including Psych, ED, Med-Surg, or telemetry.
Demonstrates critical nursing thinking and clinical skills to identify and implement nursing interventions and evaluate results.
Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.
Demonstrated de-escalation skills with vulnerable and/or psychiatric patient populations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BSN/MSN.
- PCU RN experience.
- Previous experience with psych patients and/or Crisis Prevention Training.
- Bilingual: English/Spanish.
- Participation in shared governance committees or equivalent.
- Specialty Nurse Certification.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Unit transitioning from Med-Surg/Tele to a full PCU.
- Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
This position will be required to work 4 weekend days per month.
Selected candidates may be hired at the CNIII or CNIV level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $123,902 - $173,659 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $59.34 - $83.17
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
