DESCRIPTION

BMT Transplant Coordinator consultant and liaison for patients and their families in collaboration with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, social workers, financial and administrative staff, inpatient and outpatient nursing staff and community organizations. Collaboratively assess and develop pre-transplant plan of care. Provide specific teaching, counseling, consultation and nursing care. Consult with attending physicians to determine suitability, eligibility, coordinate donor collection, cell processing and recipient admissions through the continuum of care. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.

  • RN License issued by the State of California.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Minimum two (2) years of active nursing experience with at least a minimum of one year BMT experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BSN
  • Blood & Marrow Transplant (BMTCN) or Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN).
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Must be able to work with terminally ill patients.
  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
  • Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.

Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).

If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
