The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible and accountable for providing administrative and clinical leadership. Develops standards of care coordination that demonstrates success in promoting high-quality, cost-effective delivery of care; ensuring effective utilization of resources across the continuum; excellent customer service; and compliance with regulatory and internal UCSD requirements. Spearheads innovative projects and approaches involving multi-disciplinary factions for systems improvement that affects patient outcomes across the organization. Plans, schedules and organizes work for departments ensuring proper distribution of assignments and efficient utilization of personnel, space and facilities.
The Assistant Nurse Manager supervises staff involved in providing clinical patient care. The Assistant Nurse Manger assists in ensuring the quality of patient care delivery in a specific patient care area and serves as a role model for professional nursing practice. Assists with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources. May assume full responsibility for the unit in delegated areas and in the absence of the manager.
Jacobs Medical Center 3GH ICU is a 24-bed Medical Surgical ICU with an emphasis in Oncology, BMT, COVID, and Abdominal Transplants. Including patient populations that require VV ECMO who are cared for by internal 3GH ECMO Specialists. Patient populations also cared for are neuro, stroke, cardiology, and obstetrics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN).
Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the state of California.
Current ART certification, or BLS and ACLS at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.
Two (2) or more years of acute care adult ICU experience.
Demonstrated hospital management skills, with progressive expertise in patient care services.
Knowledge to manage disaster incidents, sentinel events and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills.
Must have excellent skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff,physicians, patients and external constituents, both verbally and in writing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
MSN
Relevant specialty certification (e.g. CCRN).
Charge or supervisory RN experience.
Two (2+) or more years of RN experience in critical care, surgical ICU, oncology and/or abdominal transplant.
Experience with liver and kidney transplant patients.
Experience with medical or surgical oncology patients.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
This position encompasses both clinical and administrative responsibilities.
Must have flexibility to work variable hours including day, evenings and/or night shifts based on operational needs.
Chemo certified or willing to become chemo certified to support desensitization and chemo administration in the ICU.
Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $128,800 - $252,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $61.69 - $120.79
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
