DESCRIPTION
The Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Public Health (IDGPH) in the Department of Medicine at UC San Diego aims to conduct cutting-edge research on health related issues and service utilization facing vulnerable or marginalized populations, both domestically and internationally. IDGPH promotes scholarly research, teaching, service and global health leadership and training based on the principles of reducing health inequities.
Under direct supervision, develop statistical methodological as well as associated code (in R, python, or C). Use high-performance computing to execute the developed code. Assist in figure development and manuscript writing.
Under direct supervision, acquires skills and knowledge of professional concepts in research data analysis. Works on small projects or segments of projects with limited scope and complexity.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Four years of related experience, education/training OR a Bachelor's degree in related area.
Experience in performing statistical analyses of clinical, biological, and genomic data.
Demonstrated experience with genetic analysis software (e.g. Plink, Unphased, R).
Demonstrated experience in performing parametric and nonparametric linkage analyses (e.g. SOLAR, Merlin) and performing focused candidate gene and genome wide association analyses of qualitative and quantitative traits in large datasets (e.g. PLINK, R).
Acquiring knowledge of research function. Acquiring ability to perform research analysis duties.
Acquiring statistical analysis, systems programming, and database design skills to perform research analysis duties.
Ability to effectively manage time and see assigned parts of projects through to completion on deadline.
Basic consultation and communication skills.
Experience with various computer platforms and operating systems, including PC, Mac, and Unix.
Experience with programming and scripting languages.
Demonstrated knowledge of the application of basic and multivariate statistics to complex databases.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, as well as flexibility in learning new skills.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $63,800 - $111,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $30.56 - $53.45
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
