Selected candidate will work with postdoctoral fellows - under supervision of the principal investigator - and will get hands-on experience in two overall areas: 1) CRISPR technology, and 2) growing, maintaining, and performing experiments in human iPSC neurons. The incumbent will work with cells in a sterile setting, and need to have a working knowledge of DNA cloning. Some animal work is involved (mouse husbandry and PCR verification of colonies. The incumbent will assist with publications and other duties as assigned.

  • Theoretical knowledge as required in a Bachelor's degree in Cellular and/or Molecular Biology and Biochemistry or a combination education and experience.

  • Proven ability to perform molecular biology techniques, that will be needed for the CRISPR work that will be an integral part of the candidate’s duties (including PCR, cloning, etc.).

  • Demonstrated ability to accurately weigh chemical compounds, prepare accurate dilutions, calculate concentrations and prepare buffers.

  • Knowledge of appropriate procedures and rules for handling, storing, and disposing of biohazardous, carcinogenic, and chemical materials.

  • Knowledge and experience in the proper use and maintenance of laboratory equipment (i.e. high speed centrifuges, pH meter, spectrophotometric equipment, electrophoresis, PCR apparatus, etc.).

  • Proficient computer skills including experience with word processing, spreadsheet, data management, presentation, and internet-based software.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Working experience with human iPSC lines and/or CRISPR technology.

  • May need to work after hours and weekends if experimental protocols demand.
