ASSIGNMENT DETAILS
UC San Diego is hiring a temporary Pre-Award Research Administrator to support the campus operations for the 2024 - 2025 School Year.
Duration: This role is anticipated to last 6 months *May be extended
Compensation: $33.29 - $46.22 / hour DOE. Eligible for paid holidays and vacation/sick leave. Full-medical insurance also available.
Work Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm or flexible
Location: Hybrid(On-site in La Jolla)or fully remote position
DESCRIPTION
The temporary Research Administrator 3 Pre-Award will provide support for contract and grant proposal development, grant-writing, funding, administration, and budget development.
Work with faculty, postdocs, grad students, and other lab personnel on preparing proposal applications
Review the funding announcement, providing a detailed list of requirements from the instructions for the applicant
Prepare the budget and budget justification
Coordinate with and collect the necessary documents from any sub-award/subcontracting sites
Provide guidance when necessary, preparing the Kuali Research proposal development record
Prepare the proposal application package, ensuring that all records and proposals are submitted timely prior to the sponsor indicated deadline.
QUALIFICATIONS
Understanding of research administration guidelines of federal and non-federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities.
Knowledge of grant funding processes, procedures, and techniques
Knowledge of accounting, fiscal and reporting principles
Knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration
Ability to perform complex financial analysis and customized reporting

This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $69,500 - $123,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $33.29 - $59.15
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
