DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision of the Research Administrator supervisor, this position will assist in providing fiscal analysis and management. Responsibilities include preparing monthly reports, transaction sampling, disbursement functions and reconciliations. Research Administrator will develop and/or oversees research proposals, awards and/or transactions related to contract and grant management and maintains contract and grant records in compliance with institutional and research sponsor policies.

Follows institutional procedures and practices when analyzing or reviewing financial information or reports. Responsible for coordinating, training, and approving Marketplace requisitions, MyPayments, invoices, travel, ENPETs, EPETs, and fund transfers with high degree of accuracy. Review appropriateness and allowability of expenditures, availability of funds and applicable funding restrictions. Prepare and maintain up-to-date files of all contract and grant awards and backup documentation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's Degree in related area; and/or equivalent experience/training.

  • Thorough knowledge of the application of principles and practices of fiscal administration.

  • Proficiency working with computer and information management systems. Strong computer skills, specifically in Excel. Experience with MS Word, database programs, internet browsers, and email.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, business math and bookkeeping for budget planning and analysis, and in reconciling discrepancies.

  • Ability to perform routine financial analysis and reporting. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems, recommend solutions, determine and implement procedures to accomplish effective resolution.

  • Knowledge of financial resources to reconcile ledgers and assist in performing appropriate journal entries (i.e. payroll and non-payroll expense transfers, budget adjustment journals, etc.) for grants and contracts.

  • Ability to thrive in a busy, high-volume, and deadline driven work environment that requires coordination of multiple activities and the judgment and flexibility to reprioritize to accommodate emergency requests.

  • Ability to learn and develop understanding of applicable federal, state, local, sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines.

  • Ability to learn and develop understanding of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc. Understanding of university policies and procedures related to fiscal administration.
