Position Overview:

NOTE: This newly established position is evolving and will be reviewed on a regular basis to ensure continuity of service level expectations in alignment with campus wide business needs

Incumbent serves as Reconciliation & Data Systems Analyst for Business & Financial Services (BFS) on the reconciliation team that provides overall support and direction to campus-wide departments, central offices, and financial units in the reconciliation of UC San Diego accounts. This position plays an integral role in providing strategic and tactical data analysis, mining, and reporting for multi-divisional organizations including BFS and UC San Diego campus departments.

This position provides technical project management and high level data analytic support. Incumbent is responsible for collecting customer BI requirements, developing related reporting solutions, coordinating testing and overseeing related reporting validation in Oracle Financial Cloud. Incumbent uses Oracle BI tools administration, responds to Service ticket questions related to OFC reconciliation domain, facilitates meetings among both internal and external entities to discuss report requirements, data modeling for the report, and report solution consultation.

About UCSD:

This position is expected to be fully remote initially and subject to change based on leadership determination in alignment with University guidance on flexible work arrangement policies and protocol.


  • Thorough knowledge of business intelligence functions, analytics, industry standards and best practices.

  • Ability to produce high-quality reports and documentation. Ability to use dashboard intelligence platforms (i.e., IBM Cognos, Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server), enterprise performance management software, and other analytical technologies.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage complex information, assess problems, and develop and effective solutions. Provide insightful data-driven analysis. Extensive demonstrated experience mining data from multiple sources and databases using SQL, Access, pivot tables and other query tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop a data management plan including implementation of all recurring procedures. Understanding of data acquisition methods, techniques, and sources (including electronic sources) to continually upgrade the quality of data.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Access or similar Relational Database Management Systems (RDMS) including ability to use Structured Query Language (SQL) or graphical user interface equivalents, to group, analyze, and transform data. Ability to generate moderately complex reports/tables using diverse data sets within MS Access or RDMS equivalent.

  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated skill in presenting data and providing the analytical interpretation necessary for leadership to make well-educated decisions, scope required projects, and determine appropriate solutions.


  • Advanced degree in Business, Computer Science, Statistics, Predictive Analytics, or related field.
