This is a three (3) year, full-time contract position with the possibility of extension based on department and/or funding availability. However, the contract will be renewed annually.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Incumbent serves as Reconciliation & Controls Analyst within Student Financial Solutions (SFS) -- a multi-divisional unit of Business and Financial Services (BFS). This position is responsible for complex monthly/quarterly financial reconciliation and resolution for: SFS general ledger accounts, campus based loans and the Federal Direct Loan program. Provides analysis, financial management and accounting support for approximately $500M annually in student financial aid funds. Performs accounting functions necessary to support the accurate and timely posting and reconciling for all related accounts; monthly AR collections, AP and, AR sub-ledger to general ledger/project portfolio management. Maintain ongoing reconciliation between Direct Loans, UC accounts and the accounts managed by the University's loan servicer in order to meet all State, Federal and University regulations governing Title IV and UC San Diego aid programs; includes the preparation of financial reporting required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

  • Thorough knowledge of financial processes, policies and procedures. Ability to maintain confidentiality with personal identifiable information.

  • Thorough knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems. Demonstrated experience with account reconciliations and financial reporting.

  • Strong proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications to include: Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word

  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of accounting standards, audit principles and ability to coordinate activities; analysis of complex accounting data, interpreting the results and implementing procedures to reduce errors/mitigate risk.

  • Leadership skills to provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to professional and support staff.

PREFERRED

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field and four (4) years professional experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on background check results.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $53,600 - $111,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $25.67 - $53.45

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
