DESCRIPTION
Under supervision, participates in the configuration, fabrication and testing of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical sub-systems. Performs full assembly operations and the associated test procedures. Refurbishes instruments returned from the field and prepare for re-deployment. Performs final testing, programming, and shipment preparation. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience using hand tools (wrenches, drivers, drills etc) for mechanical assembly and fabrication. Working knowledge of electro-mechanical fabrication and quality assurance principals.
Experience using Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel to organize parts list, BOM information, track parts orders, and display relevant information in an effective way. Ability to use built-in spreadsheet functions.
Working knowledge of electronic schematics, component datasheets, soldering, operation of test equipment for electronics.
Organizational skills to maintain laboratory space, tools, supplies, and equipment.
Knowledge of laboratory, shop safety procedures.
Ability to work in a team environment. Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to work with a diverse group of people, to communicate clearly, and to demonstrate tact and diplomacy.
Analytical skills, and attention to detail. Able to exercise independent analysis in the lab and the field to develop appropriate recommendations.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to multitask and work independently while effectively organizing and prioritizing a high volume of responsibilities to meet deadlines. Skilled at quickly adapting to changing priorities while exercising sound judgment and taking initiative.
Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and to re-direct efforts to meet operational needs, requiring frequently changing and balancing competing priorities; must be able to function at a high level in a team environment.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Passport required for seagoing operations and travel to foreign ports.
Ability to travel to remote locations and go to sea under adverse weather conditions.
Ability to obtain certification to ship hazardous materials according to IATA (International Air Transport Association) and IMDG (International Maritime Dangerous Goods) regulations (UN3090, UN3091).
Ability to obtain forklift driver certification, 4500 pound rating minimum.
Ability to obtain TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card for secure port access.
Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on Background Check results.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $56,814 - $68,215 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $27.21 - $32.67
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
