DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of QI Director, design and develop next generation wireless networking infrastructure optimized for running AI workloads and applications. Develop bench-marking tools and core networks with high granularity. Run systems research using tools to develop novel algorithms and solutions for Private Edge networks and Federated systems. Advise and guide on integrating and deploying advanced 5G technologies and use cases. Manage and direct QI's efforts on sponsored research projects with industry partners. Represent QI's mission, policies and program interests at high level meetings, at times involving international organizations, agencies, networks, associations and/or high-level decision makers with the purpose of establishing and capturing collaborative partnerships. Brief Director, as needed. Provide strategic recommendations necessary to achieve financial targets.

Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced engineering professional in a specialized engineering field on a major training and / or research effort. Assignments typically require concentration in a field of application where subject matter knowledge relevant to research objectives and methodology is of great value in understanding and establishing engineering design criteria. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and /or equivalent experience / training.

  • Demonstrated experience in novel design and deployment of next-generation networks.

  • Demonstrated experience in 3GPP UE, RAN and Core Network.

  • Strong expertise in device architecture, flashless modem design and execution on Windows platform.

  • Demonstrated strong experience in modem data and networking stack, 3GPP protocol stacks. IPv6, eHRPD, LTE.

  • Thorough knowledge and experience with engineering principles and methods to independently perform the full range of engineering professional design work.

  • Thorough knowledge necessary to apply principles, practices and procedures in the completion of assignments.

  • Demonstrated organizational and decision-making abilities to prioritize competing work assignments in order to meet deadlines and adherence to quality standards.

  • Strong analytical and judgment skills to independently conduct analyses and develop appropriate recommendations.

  • Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner; identify challenges and barriers and recommend resolutions.

  • Ability to lead and influence others.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $82,500 - $151,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $39.51 - $72.56

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
