DESCRIPTION

The Center for Microbiome Innovation (CMI) is one of the Agile Centers within the Jacobs School of Engineering Dean's Office and is responsible for operational oversight of collaborative projects with Industry through the research coordination of a range of Microbiome research projects performed by core CMI laboratories. The Center has experienced tremendous growth since its creation and needs to continue expanding its team to assist our fast-growing list of industry partners.

With work direction provided by the Executive Director of CMI, the Projects Manager will be responsible for contributing to new and ongoing research projects and programs at the Center for Microbiome Innovation in collaboration with industry partners. Provides independent high-level, confidential, complex business analyses, reporting and recommendations for the Director and Principal Investigators (PIs) on matters pertaining to project management of existing and future industrial research projects.

Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of project management procedures; researches, analyzes and develops solutions to a wide range of programmatic details related to schedule, budget, risk, performance and scope. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Primarily deals with technical teams and business operation personnel within JSOE for the effective execution of programs. The candidate will assist with proposals which are complex in nature and diverse in scope. Develops new projects, statements of work, project plans and project control reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.Three (3) or more years of relevant experience.

  • Knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrates the ability to provide comprehensive recommendations and solutions that address project needs.

  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.

  • Analytical / problem-solving skills. Exceptional organizational skills and proven ability to recognize potential problems, independently resolve problems, communicate higher level problems to supervisor/PIs, evaluate and suggest solutions and recommendations, and develop and initiate plans to complete goals and assignments efficiently and effectively.

  • Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses.

  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.

  • Experience with project management processes and fundamentals

  • Demonstrated experience generating Gantt schedules, work breakdown structures, identification of dependencies and critical path assessments.

  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment, to follow through with superior attention to detail, and to complete tasks in a timely manner by a specified deadline.

  • Proven experience utilizing and implementing project management approaches and tools, monitoring all aspects of assigned projects from development through implementation, and creating work plans and timelines to ensure timely completion of projects.

  • Ability to maintain accuracy and focus with attention to detail in fast-paced, highly-collaborative environment with dynamic priorities.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $69,500 - $123,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $33.29 - $59.15

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
