This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite on Campus and remote.
DESCRIPTION
The Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science at the University of California, San Diego. The goals of the institute include:
1) Creating and promoting public health innovations to advance equity, justice, and wellbeing for all
2) Cultivating new generations of diverse public health professionals
3) Advancing scientific discovery, dissemination, and implementation
4) Collaborating with diverse partners to develop community-led health solutions
Provides expertise related to research field setting including but not limited to environmental, public health, social, or biological science disciplines, or technical concepts related to the area of research being conducted in the field. Works closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) to formulate research implementation strategies and administer program protocols and policies. Manage multiple research projects at a time, conducting inter-departmental and community-led collaborative projects, develops research concepts and protocols, prepares summary reports of research activities, leads and collaborates on scientific manuscripts, and oversees the day-to-day administration of the research team. Assist in the lab's financial planning, preparation of operating budgets and projections, and monitors and controls expenditures against budget. Provides expertise in quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis, and management. Perform essential research administration duties such as IRB preparation and management, contract and agreement preparation, procurements, supplies management, and supports the PI with NIH level grant application and submission. Supervise both career level research associates and student research staff in their work. Lead and coordinate lab activities, meetings, and multi-disciplinary team research retreats, and supports PI in interviewing and hiring career and student research staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training.
Advanced knowledge of research discipline, principles, concepts, analysis and/or operations being conducted at field/remote sites.
In-depth knowledge of local customs and operations at field/remote sites.
Advanced ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships and partnerships with remote research partners.
Advanced ability to lead research activities and project team independently, and to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Advanced attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Advanced ability to work in ambiguous conditions and lead team to take relevant responsible action as required.
Advanced research and analytical skills.
Advanced communication skills with broad range of research partners and project team members.
In-depth knowledge of safety, legal, cultural and regulatory requirements relative to field research responsibility.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
MPH/MSPH desired, with a preference for specialization in community or behavioral health.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $69,500 - $123,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $33.29 - $59.15
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
