This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite on Campus and remote.

The mission of UC San Diego Continuing Medical Education (CME) is to provide education for physicians and other health care providers to increase competence, improve performance and enable the optimal provision of health care. UC San Diego CME implements and disseminates the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) policies, guidelines and compliance measures and ensures compliance with American Medical Association (AMA) requirements related to CME activities. UC San Diego CME is a self- supporting unit and provides services related to the development and delivery of continuing education activities in support of the UC San Diego Health System and School of Medicine faculty.

This position provides integral support for the unit and is responsible for the development and delivery of education serving the continuing education needs of the health profession. Activities may include live, in-person and virtual trainings, on-demand online modules, hybrid learning formats, and other emerging educational formats. Provides advanced services for all planning, programmatic needs, and logistical aspects of educational activities. Act as a key liaison between UC San Diego Continuing Medical Education and Health Sciences department and faculty in the planning, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of health professions education. Develop new educational programs, and work on complex educational programs of diverse scope. Use skills as a seasoned, experienced educational program professional to resolve a wide range of educational program issues and needs assessments. Ensure appropriate interpretation of applicable guidelines related to training and education activities. Collaborate with faculty and staff in selecting methods and techniques for instructional design and educational methodology. Collaborates with other CME team members in the management of attendees and learners. Actively pursues and engages with educational partners with synchronous missions and goals, to secure additional business opportunities for the unit. Pursues funding for educational activities, while maintaining compliance with all accreditation rules and regulations.


  • Seven years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus three years of related experience/training.

  • Strong experience managing all logistics related to continuing educational activities, including attendee management, marketing & communication, on-site arrangements, vendor negotiations, solicitation of commercial support, development of online activities and other alternative formats, and evaluations and outcomes assessment.

  • Ability to collaborate with subject matter experts in the educational planning of accredited activities and provide guidance about instructional design, educational formats, adult learning methods, technology options.

  • Knowledge of ACCME/CME policies and procedures related to the accreditation, planning, delivery and evaluation of accredited education.

  • Strong interpersonal skills. Actively cooperates and supports the work of others. Ability to work productively with anyone regardless of background. Empathetic and aware of impact on others. Strong problem solving skills to assist learners and resolve issues.

  • Excellent organizational skills, analytical, and demonstrated attention to detail. Ability to complete work and meet established deadlines in an accurate and timely manner, and to manage short and competing deadlines.

  • Demonstrated experience and documented excellence in oral and written communications skills; includes active listening and critical thinking.

  • Thorough knowledge of educational software and platforms. Demonstrated ability to analyze and seek solutions to enhance the user experience.

  • Thorough knowledge of relevant policies and regulatory requirements. Solid knowledge of health professions education program requirements. Thorough knowledge of health professions education industry.

  • Must have access to reliable transportation.

  • Overtime may be required.
