DESCRIPTION

The Program Coordinator will support the administrative and research project related needs within the Center for Energy Research. Under the direction of the Center faculty and academic researchers, the incumbent is responsible for the independent initiation, planning, management, execution, and closing of projects. The incumbent will proactively provide status updates, identify roadblocks and risks, and plan for contingencies with minimal follow-up and inquiry from leaders.

The position will primarily assist with research proposal preparation (non-fund management), coordination of Center events and regular content maintenance of CER's CMS website/sub-sites contents.

The incumbent will also provide high-level support to the Center, ensuring daily operations run smoothly. This requires sound judgment, diplomacy, discretion, and confidentiality on a wide variety of complex and highly sensitive issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, educational administration, or scientific discipline with experience in program support or related field plus two years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in sponsored research at universities. Experience coordinating management/administrative efforts, and collaborating with academics, researchers, and staff engaged in research. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in business administration.

  • Experience applying administrative concepts and practices.

  • Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated skill communicating effectively, professionally, concisely and persuasively both orally and in writing with a wide variety of personalities at all levels of university and government administration.

  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, research and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail.

  • Working knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines in an environment with frequently changing priorities. Ability to work with minimal supervision in the follow through and completion of projects.

  • Experience planning events (such as workshops, summer school, and meetings) from inception to completion.

  • Effective analytical and critical thinking skills to identify problems and develop innovative solutions. Experience in analyzing and prioritizing short and long-term needs, analyzing and interpreting complex regulations, and applying them to a given situation. Skill to logically analyze complex situations and data and develop clear and concise reports or recommendations.

PREFERRED:

  • Experience using UC San Diego systems such as Concur Travel and Expense and the Content Management System for UCSD websites. Experience working with campus offices and familiarity with the overall structure of UC San Diego.

~This position is eligible for a Hybrid flexible work arrangement, which could include a non-standard work schedule, and/or the ability to work off-site part of the time.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $56,700 - $97,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $27.16 - $46.70

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
