DESCRIPTION

The Practice Coordinator independently manages outpatient clinic appointments, and surgical procedure scheduling for the Cancer Center. The incumbent would foster key customer service and patient access initiatives, in addition to supporting clinicians with various administrative related tasks such as travel, reimbursement, and credentialing support.

Typical duties include answering multi-line incoming customer calls, completing registration for new or established patients in a timely and accurate manner and adhering to the established registration and scheduling protocols and standards. Collecting outside records, managing provider’s templates and ensuring utilization of O.R. schedule/block time. Verifying insurance eligibility for outpatient services on all third-party payers, by utilizing various automated eligibility systems and confirms authorization for all requested services.

The Practice Coordinator works closely with clinical staff and faculty and has excellent customer service and communication skills to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three (3) years of related experience in a large complex healthcare setting.

  • Customer service experience.

  • Knowledge of third-party payers including federal, state, and private health plans.

  • Experience updating registration and scheduling appointments.

  • Possesses problem-solving ability by using good judgment and applying these skills to assist customers and ensure customer expectations are met.

  • Demonstrated computer skills and be able to work between multiple systems during calls.

  • Must have excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Epic or other EMR.

  • Experience with coordination of procedures/surgeries.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be available to work on-site, Monday - Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Flexible with work assignments, may float across oncology divisions when needed.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $64,937 - $64,937 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $31.10 - $31.10

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
