The Department of Pediatrics is one of the largest departments within the UCSD School of Medicine with comprehensive clinical programs, extensive basic science and clinical research, and diverse educational opportunities for students, residents and fellows. The internationally renowned faculty play a major role in medical and graduate student training, providing educational and programmatic offerings that span several disciplines, and provide diversity to meet the interests of a broad spectrum of students and scholars. More than one hundred trainees at the graduate student and postdoctoral level, as well as more than 300 professional, research and administrative staff who along with the department administrators interact closely with the faculty. The diverse mix of ages, backgrounds, and talents creates a robust work environment with challenging career opportunities and a commitment to continued growth potential. We constantly seek to recruit highly motivated, technologically-advanced and interested individuals to become a part of our dynamic cutting-edge research, clinical, and educational environment.

This position will work in the Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego Urgent Care. RCHSD (Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego) is the major regional primary and tertiary pediatric hospital serving San Diego and Southern Riverside counties and is the clinical home of the UCSD (University of California San Diego) Department of Pediatrics. Incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into all aspects of the educational and patient care experience is a top priority at our institution.

If hired, you will join our expanding Urgent Care staff, which currently consists of 16 physicians and 3 pediatric nurse practitioners. You will provide same-day acute care to pediatric patients throughout the local community. Primary responsibilities include scheduled clinical shifts and coverage for sick call-ins. You may also work with trainees as they rotate through our clinics. If contracted for a full-time equivalent (FTE) equal to or above 50% of full-time, you will be eligible for full benefits. It is important for us to ensure our providers can achieve a good work-life balance.

The RCHSD Urgent Care consists of 5 locations throughout San Diego and Southern Riverside counties, providing great "in your neighborhood" accessibility to the community we serve. The Urgent Care holds a close relationship with the RCHSD Emergency Department located at the Rady Children’s Hospital Main Campus.
