Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of operational or technical employees. A portion of time may be spent performing individual tasks related to the unit; however, supervisory activities must constitute a primary part of the job. Supervises unit operations to ensure compliance with departmental or organizational policies, procedures, and defined internal controls. Ensures accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental standards and procedures.

Supervises employees responsible for revenue cycle activities. Receives predetermined work assignments that are subject to a moderate level of control and review. Directs subordinates to complete assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies. Works on issues of limited scope. Requires full knowledge of own are of functional responsibility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training.

  • Supervisory and organizational skills. Ability to effectively manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Working knowledge of revenue cycle management practices and concepts, charge master, billing, coding and collection regulations.

  • Ability to apply reasoning skills to evaluate issues and identify a potential solution. Provides guidance and judgement within defined standards to determine an appropriate action.

  • Interpersonal skills to effectively work well with others to achieve common goals. Customer service orientation to quickly address questions or issues.

  • Ability to work effectively with management across the medical center on new metrics, standardization of reporting / data and project management processes.

  • Proficient in written and verbal communications, with the ability to explain revenue cycle concepts, actively listen and advise.

  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and delegate assignments efficiently.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional fee coding certification, such as CPC or CCS-P.

  • Will consider RHIT or RHIA with CCS certification.

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate directly with physicians and clinical staff in a teaching capacity.

  • Experience in auditing/educating coders.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $77,000 - $139,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $36.88 - $66.67

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
