DESCRIPTION

Under direct supervision of the Reproductive Endocrinology and Fertility Clinic manager and the general supervision of the clinic providers and licensed nursing staff, performs work which requires specific knowledge and training in patient care duties within business and professions code of the State of California and/or the regulations The Joint Commission (TJC).

Duties also include but are not limited to: scheduling of patient appointments and associated patient system screens; environmental care functions; equipment/supply management; and cleaning/disinfecting the environment. Requires knowledge of medical terminology, on-line scheduling (Epic), universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics. Position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a team environment. Will provide non-licensed medical support to medical care providers in an outpatient setting.

Incumbents room patients; set up equipment and instruments, maintaining sterile technique as required; independently perform and/or assist providers with performing exams and procedures, including administering injections: collect, prepare and analyze specimens, provide instructions, training, test results and advice to patients; review and route medication refill requests; sterilize instruments; clean and calibrate equipment; clean and stock exam rooms; and provide proper documentation in patient chart. Incumbents will assist with ultrasound set up and high-level decontamination of supplies and endocavity probes. Will be required to keep up on preventative maintenance and daily quality checks. Will also provide front office services including checking in patients, confirming authorization and insurance, discussing financial questions, and scheduling appointment on a routine or back-up basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
  • BART or BLS/CPR at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
  • One (1) year of experience minimum as an MA in an acute care facility or Ob/Gyn.
  • One (1) year procedure, reception, authorizations, and referrals experience.
  • Medical terminology training or certificate.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • One years of experience working in Infertility.
  • Currently pursuing LVN, RN, PA, or MD education.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations in San Diego based on business needs.
  • Must be able to work at three different clinics in La Jolla and work overtime as required.
  • May be required to secure transportation and pay parking fee at multiple locations within the same day.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Position requires minimum 1 weekend/month (Saturday and Sunday) and 3-4 holiday shifts/per year as a on call basis.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $57,671 - $57,671 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $27.62 - $27.62

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
