POSITION OVERVIEW
Incumbent serves as Manager, Financial Reporting Controls & Analysis in Internal Controls and Accounting --- a division of Business and Financial Services (BFS). For UC San Diego, incumbent serves as the control point and campus coordinator for functions related to Financial Accounting and Reporting. This position works with diverse groups including external parties, key administrative offices at University of California Office of the President (UCOP), other UC campuses and UC San Diego central offices, VC areas, and departments/units. This position directs, initiates, designs, and provides analytical studies, summary reports, and accounting data reconciliation to campus organizations or central offices for OFC financial data review or specific topic-based short-term projects, including different ledger reconciliation, variance analysis, OFC financial data and transaction validation, etc., that have a significant impact on campus and central office financial operation.As a member of the Internal Controls & Accounting Leadership Team, incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing divisional strategic plans and objectives.

Internal Controls and Accounting

NOTE: Current budgeted salary is up to $100k. Salary placement is determined by the top candidate’s overall qualifications/relevant experience, market data and internal equity.
QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced knowledge of accounting function. Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of accounting principles (including GAAP& GASB Accounting), theory and practice, and knowledge and experience in applying fund accounting principles. Ability to analyze and summarize complex accounting data, perform complex reconciliations, resolve complex accounting problems, prepare financial statements
Demonstrated knowledge of audit techniques and internal control standards.
Advanced experience using financial transactions and systems as well as related policy, accounting, and unique regulatory compliance requirements. Proven knowledge of financial software tools to quantify and illustrate routine financial reports, statements, and/or projections.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft software applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook etc)
Skilled in risk management, business risk analysis, and making complex business recommendations and decisions.
Advanced presentation, analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance and six (6) years of professional-level accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced Degree and/or Professional Certification (CPA license).
- General knowledge and/or experience with Oracle Financial Cloud platform.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on background check results.
- Effort outside of the normal 40 hour workweek, plus overnight travel, may occasionally be required.
- Vacation time may be restricted during fiscal year end closing activities (mid-June through mid-September).
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $63,400 - $142,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $30.36 - $68.39
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).
