DESCRIPTION

 Under the supervision of the Infusion Scheduling Supervisor, the Infusion Scheduling Lead oversees the Infusion appointment scheduling process in Epic, which are complex patient appointments. Takes a lead role in their area to ensure staff is trained and coached in the Infusion scheduling process. Assists in the development and improvement of the scheduling process in the Infusion Center. In conjunction with the Infusion Center and MCC Management team, establishes standards and procedures to maintain patient infusion schedules and identify opportunities for more efficient and greater patient care delivery related to appointments and scheduling. Acts as a liaison between Infusion Center staff, Moores Cancer Center, and UC San Diego fellow employees, i.e., Physicians, Case Managers, etc. Leads quality assurance efforts and serves as a front-line customer service representative for all scheduling issues and patient complaints/problem resolution in all clinic areas and the call center.

With the guidance of the Infusion Scheduling Supervisor, the Lead initiates and participates in improvement efforts that directly impact the practice. Meets regularly with Infusion Scheduling Supervisor to report on infusion scheduling, resolve issues, or work on improvement projects. Support Clinical Operations/Infusion Scheduling leadership in troubleshooting site specific staffing challenges. The Infusion Scheduling Lead is responsible for a variety of clerical duties in support of patient services within clinical and call center areas including; greeting patients, arriving patients for their appointments, registration updates, insurance and authorization verification, auditing billing documents, co-pay collection, answering patient phone calls, updating templates, and providing assistance, as needed. In addition, participates in the development of tip sheets, training documents, policies and procedures to optimize scheduling workflows and support the patient experience. Maintains a high level of professionalism in communicating with patients, subordinates, peers and physicians. Performs other lead duties as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three (3) years Patient Access experience in large, complex healthcare environment.

  • Expert knowledge of Epic/Cadence.

  • Experience with insurance and authorization.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of third-party payors, including federal, state, and private health plans.

  • Medical terminology training or certificate. Oncology specific preferred.

  • Advanced knowledge of Infusion Scheduling/Oncology.

  • Medical terminology training or certificate.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability by using good judgment and applying these skills to customers and ensuring expectations are met.

  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities in order to meet established deadlines independently; skill to work effectively in a high-volume environment.

  • Highly proficient with MS Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, etc.

  • Familiar with hospital patient access systems.

  • Superb customer service skills.

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

  • Monday - Friday work schedule with occasional weekend availability as required.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $61,178 - $76,108 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $29.30 - $36.45

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
