Under general supervision by the dermatology clinic manager and laboratory medical director, provides clinical and administrative support to the UCSD Dermatopathology Laboratory Service. Sets priorities, coordinates work of the laboratory unit, and assists in establishing/fostering new work methods and procedures to support the healthcare business and all clients within local community, region and state of California. Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills will be required and exercised on a daily basis. There is integration with laboratory team members that perform technical work using specialized instrumentation.
Duties include providing logistical support for shipping of materials, pathology report acquisition, filing and maintaining proper record systems, patient registration to include familiarity with insurance filing, integration with revenue cycle team members, answering phones and emails, maintaining logs related to material transfer, and communicating with physician team members regarding care delivery as it pertains to the dermatopathology laboratory service.
Three (3) years of appropriate experience in ambulatory healthcare setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
Must be a flexible team player and able to manage multiple priorities to meet administrative and patient care needs at a high-volume.
Proficient with computerized documentation. Familiar with MS Office, Excel, and Adobe
- Previous experience involving clinical care in Dermatology.
- Epic registration experience.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Medical terminology training and/or certificate.
- Knowledge of or prior experience in Dermatopathology
- Bilingual: English/Spanish.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs. Possible overtime.
- Must be willing and able to float to other locations as requested.

If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
