This is a 100% Contract position for 6 months with the possibility of extension or conversion to career status.

DESCRIPTION

Serves as the first point of contact and an ambassador for Human Resources when people come to the HR Suite or reach out to the HR Support Team. Responsible for providing a full range of customer services. Develops processes to ensure customer service needs are met with speed and accuracy and customer service issues are resolved. Responds to customer (employees and managers) inquiries and / or problems. Researches and resolves questions and problems, maintains records and communicates resolution and / or status. Exercises judgement within defined guidelines and practices to resolve operational problems of moderate scope.

Oversees a team of 4-8 student employees to ensure effective operations and a supportive work environment. Key responsibilities include managing team schedules, training and developing employees, providing day-to-day support, analyzing operational trends, and addressing escalations to maintain a smooth workflow.

Provides general onsite admin support to all areas of HR and may work on operational and/or procedural assignments for all units of HR that require the exercise of considerable discretion and independent judgment. Tasks involve the handling of confidential information. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments. This is a position that is not covered by the Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act (HEERA).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Thorough knowledge of administrative procedures and processes including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.

  • Requires good verbal and written communication skills, active listening, critical thinking, multi-tasking and time management skills.

  • Skill in managing sensitive and confidential information regarding bargaining unit issues.

  • Requires interpersonal and work leadership skills to provide guidance to other nonexempt personnel.

  • Demonstrated competency with and commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on Background Check results.

  • Bi-lingual, fluency in English and Spanish, preferred.

  • This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $53,800 - $91,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $25.77 - $43.58

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
