Under general direction, the HR Communications Specialist is responsible for creating communication plans, messaging, and a variety of communication deliverables for human resources (HR); such as email messages, newsletters, and other related deliverables as well as independently involved in developing digital communications for HR data, metrics, dashboards and other analytics. Partners with various HR content subject matter experts to collaborate and solicit feedback from business leaders and team members to develop content or the design for the HR website or other websites that pertain to HR information. Responsible for producing communications or instructions on the interpretation of data and metrics. Also produces deliverables via web audio, video, and other digital media, which may involve content creation, designing, production and/or programming. Develops, implements or executes comprehensive, multidisciplinary communications programs. Serve as a communications advisor to the HR Leadership team on organization-wide presentations or other materials. This role reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer and will support the communications needs of this executive. Performs other related duties as required.


  • Nine years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus five years of related experience/training.

  • Experience and proven success in fundamentals of digital communications design and implementation.

  • Expertise in communication or journalism, writing, and creation of communication deliverables such as emails, presentations, newsletters, et al.

  • Experience with developing dashboards of technical and interactive data.

  • Demonstrated ability to write engaging content, along with excellent editing and grammatical skills.

  • Demonstrated newsletter production skills.

  • Advanced analytical skills to comprehend business data in order to communicate effectively via various communication channels.


  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $91,300 - $170,700 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $43.73 - $81.75

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
