DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Associate Director, the Gift Fund Financial Analyst is an integral member of the Gift Policy and Donor/Fund Stewardship team. The incumbent analyzes gift fund financial data, donor/giving data, and assists with periodic reporting to all campus units, business officers, external partners, and donors. The Gift Fund Financial Analyst & Steward reviews, develops, and runs reports from various databases including Oracle, Blackbaud CRM (Advancement’s donor database), STAR, and Cognos to ensure the appropriate and timely use of gift funds in accordance with gift agreement terms. The Gift Fund Financial Analyst assists with review and segmentation of data for stewardship projects such as the annual endowment report and annual giving summaries.

The incumbent works very closely with the Senior Financial Analyst and Associate Director to prepare a variety of endowment and current-use gift fund reports, and helps to administer gift fund policies such as PPM 410-5 and PPM 410-6. The Gift Fund Financial Analyst also generates ad-hoc reporting related to donor giving and gift fund data requests by internal customers. Uses professional concepts, applies organizational policies and procedures to resolve various issues. Works on problems of limited to moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of multiple factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting/finance, economics, statistics or an allied field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Working knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing clearly and concisely.

  • Proven ability using spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.

  • Effective interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; excellent service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment. Ability to adapt to changing priorities.

  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.

  • Experience independently comprehending, analyzing and interpreting complex financial data, written policies, and procedures. Experience to read and understand a variety of financial reports and documents. Experience to perform moderately complex mathematical computations with accuracy and make practical and effective decisions and recommendations.

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office. Ability to use Excel functions (Vlookup, Hlookup, IF, Concatenate) functions. Ability to use advanced Word merge functions. Demonstrated ability to use Access to import/export data from various sources, run queries/mismatch queries.

  • Ability to respond to ad-hoc statistical data requests by utilizing a wide variety of data programs to create meaningful customized reports/spreadsheets.

  • Thorough knowledge of correct English grammar usage, standards of business English, punctuation, proofreading and editing.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to develop mutually beneficial partnerships with internal and external constituents: use discretion and collaboration to communicate effectively and diplomatically in a professional and courteous manner; and exercise ethical interpersonal behavior. Protect at all time the confidentiality of donors. Ability to function as a member of a team.

  • Proven experience, and demonstrated success, working in a highly decentralized environment in a large, complex institution.
