DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Clinic Manager, the front desk coordinator is the first point of contact for patients. The front desk coordinator is responsible for a variety of clerical and receptionist duties in support of daily patient services within clinical areas: greets patients, check in and check out procedures. Multi-specialty clinic appointment scheduling, insurance and authorization verification, updating patient demographics, audit billing documents, disposition appointments, co-pay collection, managing/monitoring petty cash drawer, and working closely with physicians, nurses, staff and other UCSD departments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three (3) years or recent related experience in a large complex healthcare setting.

  • Thorough knowledge of third-party payors including federal, state, and private health plans.

  • Proven problem-solving ability using strong critical thinking skills.

  • Demonstrated computer skills.

  • Strong customer service experience.

  • Ability to work in an interactive environment and possess excellent customer service skills both in person and over phone.

  • Be able to maintain strict confidentiality. Have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

  • Be a self-starter who is accountable, open to new ideas, creative, and flexible. Demonstrated ability to work in a large, complex organization.

  • Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Recent experience in a multi-provider clinic.
  • EPIC, CADENCE, and Epic Phoenix experience.
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $54,664 - $67,944 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $26.18 - $32.54

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
