DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the Operations On-Site Hillcrest Manager, the Hillcrest Front Desk Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for coverage as needed in all areas including Clinical Care Coordinator desks, Call Center, all Cancer Service areas in La Jolla, Hillcrest and North County locations. The scope encompasses greeting patients, check-in and check-out procedures, appointment scheduling for Clinic, Infusion Cancer, Fast Track, MRI, Imaging and Laboratory Services. Conducts registration, insurance and authorization verification, updates patient demographics, disposition appointments, co-pay collection, manages/monitors petty cash (cash drawer), expedites reports, clinic and infusion workqueue review/update, managing and responding to Epic InBasket messages, contacting patients to schedule appointments, documenting via telephone encounters/staff messages via Epic, and working closely with physicians, nurses, staff and other UCSD departments and staff.
Call Center Specialist coverage is responsible for typical duties including customer service, answering multi-line incoming calls, completing online registration, insurance verification, scheduling appointments, securing authorization for scheduled services, expediting EPIC orders by routed referrals through the MUC work queue. Clinical Care Coordinator coverage includes covering desk duties, assisting patients with expediting new patient scheduling by reviewing the Epic referral WQ on a daily basis. Assists Physicians and all team members with managing all patient-related affairs and acts as patience liaison by fielding questions, scheduling appointments, arranging for hospital admissions. This role also expedites patient needs, administrative duties, calendaring, academic duties, etc. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Three (3) years of relevant experience working in a large healthcare organization or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with patient check-in/check-out and cash handling.
Proven knowledge of third-party payors, including federal, state, and private health plans.
Possess strong computer skills and be able to work between multiple systems during calls.
Must have excellent customer service skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Oncology experience.
Epic-Cadence experience.
Demonstrated experience with insurance and authorizations.
Prior scheduling experience.
Bilingual: English/Spanish.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs; Occasional Overtime/Holiday coverage.
- Work locations including La Jolla and Kearny Mesa locations as needed.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $54,664 - $67,944 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $26.18 - $32.54
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
