UC San Diego Temporary Employment Services (TES) is recruiting for temporary dining and food services roles. Titles include but are not limited to: Food Service Workers Leads, Sr. Cook, Banquet/Catering workers, and Retail Market Food Service Workers. Working through TES is a great way to obtain permanent employment at the University.
Compensation: $19.41 - $19.78/hour plus vacation, sick, and holiday pay.
Duration: 4 - 6 months with anticipated assignment end date in June 2023 for the campus closure
Proven food service experience in a quality food or hospitality service operation, or institutional food service role; an equivalent combination of education in a restaurant, catering, or retail operation.
Well-versed in hospitality, attention to detail, and quality control.
Demonstrated skill to interact and communicate positively with other staff and customers.
Ability to handle stressful situations, multiple deadlines, and difficult multi-tasking environments in a calm professional manner.
Strong mathematical, cash handling, and accounting skills to operate a cash register, accurately complete forms, and service records.
Must be reliable and punctual.
Applicable to lead roles:- Knowledge and skill in teaching and delegating of tasks to subordinates, and effectively monitoring and evaluating their performance.
- A background and reference check is required for employment with UC San Diego
- Flexible availability for early morning, afternoon, and evening shifts (may be scheduled on weekends and/or holidays).
Pay Transparency Act Full Salary Range: $40,987 - $48,901 Annually
The University of California, San Diego is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this position is defined as the Full Pay Range. The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position defined as the Expected Pay Scale. Placement within the Expected Pay Scale is determined by internal equity, relevant qualifications, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).
