DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Temporary Employment Services (TES) is recruiting for temporary Dining and Food Service Storekeepers. Working through UC San Diego’s Temporary Employment Services is a great way to obtain permanent employment at the University!

Assignments typically last 3 - 6 months. Compensation: $20.76 per hour plus vacation, sick, and holiday pay. Full time, part time, and varied schedules available.

Open Shifts - Two locations Saturday/Sunday off ; Monday - Friday 5:30AM - 2:00PM

Incumbent will order, receive, inspect and store food service products; will communicate and resolve discrepancies according to UC San Diego Dining Services policies and procedures; will establish and maintain approved storehouse systems including receiving, inventory, requisition, etc.; will maintain all storage areas in neat, orderly, clean and sanitary condition; will provide stores accountability and usage in required time frame; will maintain security. In addition, provides leadership and operational support to unit.

Health codes require prescribed uniform, hair covering, and good personal hygiene. Meal schedules require extreme attention to promptness and excellent attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of food specifications including meat buyers guide, USDA produce, poultry and frozen specifications.

  • Communication skills to interact effectively with vendors, students, department unit leads, and a wide variety of others.

  • Writing skill to write vendor reports and complete standard reports.

  • Knowledge of math skill including addition; subtraction; multiplication; to provide statistical data and reconcile invoices, stores, dates, weights and measures to accurately account for and inventory items.

  • Organizational skills to set-up and maintain storage, inventory and distribution procedures.

  • Skill and knowledge to maintain high sanitation standards in the receipt, storage, and distribution of food products.

  • Skill and knowledge to check incoming supplies to determine damage and correctness for quantity and quality for compliance with specifications.

  • Skill and experience in the use of an automated inventory control system for tracking receiving & distribution of product, recipes, and accounting.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • A background check and reference checks are required.
  • If driving a University vehicle, must have a valid California Driver’s License, good driving record and participate in the DMV pull program.

Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).
