ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

UC San Diego is hiring a Financial Analyst 2 or 3 to support the campus operations for the 2023 - 2024 School Year.

Duration: This role is anticipated to last through 6/30/2024.

Compensation: $35.13 - $44.06 / Hour. Eligible for paid holidays and vacation/sick leave. Full-medical insurance also available.

Work Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm

Location: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays remote, and Tuesdays/Thursdays onsite

DESCRIPTION

TES is looking for an experienced financial analyst who will assist in preparing and processing timely federal fund draw downs by ensuring compliance with accepted accounting principles, governmental accounting standards, laws and regulations and state or federal requirements.

  • Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and organizational policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways.

  • Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.

  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Contacts are both internal and external to the department.

  • Manages permanent staffing lists and provides benefit rate analysis.

  • Analyzes policy, then interprets and develops that policy into a financial statement to communicate the unit's mission and objectives.

  • Administers all funds and manages standard business processes for all School of Biological Sciences units and activities including travel, purchasing, entertainment, reimbursements and ledger reconciliation.

  • Analyzes fiscal data and produces monthly financial reports for unit heads and senior leadership.

  • Provides short and long-term analysis, projections and solutions in financial organizational, procedural, processes and staffing areas.

  • Independently develops strategies, recommends and implements resolutions to ensure efficient management of resources.

  • Reports fiscal concerns to the CFO and formulates and recommends solutions.

  • Develops and implements local policies as needed. Responsible for special analytical projects and ad hoc reports for Biological Sciences senior leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the essential job duties.

  • Must have federal drawdown experience, strong accounting background, be able to manipulate large data set.

  • 3 - 5 years of accounting or grant accounting experience required.

  • Knowledge of fund accounting, GAAP, cash management, accounts receivable and grant concepts, reporting, and other applicable accounting principles.

  • Intermediate/advanced in Excel and with accounting software.

  • Oracle Financials Cloud experience preferred.

It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $74,300 - $134,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $35.58 - $64.42

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
