This is a one (1) year 100% Contract position. This appointment may be extended or converted to career status based on the funding and needs of the department.


Uses professional concepts. Applies organizational policies and procedures to resolve various issues. Works on problems of limited to moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of multiple factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Contacts are primarily internal to the department, but may also be external

The incumbent's main responsibility is providing fiscal support to the Deputy Director of Administration in their role for comprehensive fiscal management for CW3E. Performs job functions independently or in coordination with CASPO and Deputy Director of Administration. Responsibilities encompass a wide variety of activities and require analytical skills, good judgment, discretion, organizational abilities, knowledge of University policies and procedures, and excellent oral and written skills. Duties include analysis of fiscal data, basic financial report preparation through databases and spreadsheets, forecasting expenses, short- and long-term budget planning, creative thinking for financial situations. Responsible for all department P-card activity.

As a member of the CW3E Administrative team, assist staff in assignments as needed, and provide backup of duties performed by other Business Office staff.

  • Ability to independently research, review and analyze complex financial information, extract pertinent data, compile, analyze and present data effectively; proven ability to prepare accurate financial reports, budgets, analyze spending patterns and communicate budget concerns.

  • Knowledge of budgetary and accounting/finance principles and theory. Skill in developing systems of internal controls to mesh with campus accounting system.

  • Working knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.

  • Demonstrated ability using spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.

  • Experience with: Google Drive, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet browsers, e-mail software in a multi-platform environment, including web-based technologies, query tools for a variety of uses including accounting, financial reporting, database management, and workgroup communication. Ability to self-teach, and to read and comprehend instructional documentation.

  • Ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize, and perform basic financial analysis assignments.

  • Intermediate knowledge of policies and procedures relating to contract and grants; and accounting. Ability to independently interpret, analyze, and implement appropriate policies in a given situation.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing clearly and concisely.

  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and to re-direct efforts to meet operational needs, requiring frequently changing and balancing competing priorities; must be able to function at a high level in a team environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; excellent service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail.

  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility. Proven ability to compose documents and communicate verbally in English using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

  • Proven ability to maintain strict attention to detail, accuracy, clarity, and confidentiality.


  • Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on background check results.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $61,800 - $108,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $29.60 - $51.72

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
