ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

UC San Diego is hiring a temporary Dev Technician 2 to support our research labs with construction and maintenance.

Duration: This role is anticipated to 5-6 months.

Compensation: $25.40 - $27.61 depending on experience Eligible for paid holidays and vacation/sick leave. Mid-Level benefits also available.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00A - 3:30P

Location: 100% on-site on campus in La Jolla.

DESCRIPTION

Under supervision, assists with installation, modification, repair, and/or maintenance of equipment in research laboratories and science-related department spaces, using a combination of skills from different disciplines, crafts, or trades.

  • Experience with basic hand tools. Experience with basic carpentry tools.
  • Ability to interact with a variety of diverse individuals, including scientists, engineers, vendors, technicians, laboratories and other support personnel.
  • Must be able to follow and read manual instructions in the assembly/fabrication process.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Technical and craft experience.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the use of standard organization computer applications, Word, Excel and other common desktop applications.
  • Demonstrated effective listening, interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills to resolve inquiries, address concerns or problems and ensure cooperative and productive working relationships.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Background and Reference check required prior to hire. Must have valid CA driver license (or be willing to get within 10 days of hire). Must maintain good driving record and participate in DMV pull notice program throughout duration of employment.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $48,692 - $57,650 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $23.32 - $27.61

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
