DESCRIPTION

Under the general direction of the Manager of Capacity Management, the Decedent Affairs (DA) Coordinator's duties include but are not limited to administrative tasks related to deceased individuals. Responsibilities may include liaising with funeral homes and government agencies; providing resources and assistance to grieving families; reviewing and verifying informed consent with legal next of kin; coordinating legal consent between next of kin and physicians; utilizing EMR systems; and utilizing EDRS and EBRS for documentation of death certificates.

In addition to the duties of decedent affairs, the DA Coordinator assists with the Nurse Staffing Office and Transfer Center as required. Performs other related duties as assigned by Capacity Management leadership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three (3) years of relevant experience working in large, complex healthcare or clinic settings.

  • Demonstrated high-level clinical coordination experience in a healthcare setting.

  • Possess excellent customer service skills and strong interpersonal skills to work effectively and interact well with patients, visitors, faculty, clinical, and support staff.

  • Possess demonstrated computer skills and be able to work between multiple systems during calls.

  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

  • Possess problem-solving ability by using good judgment and applying these skills to assist patients and ensure patients' expectations are met.

  • Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment, and accountability.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to work well independently and require minimal direction and supervision.

  • Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree of related field.

  • Experience working with families during the death process.

  • Experience working in hospitals, funeral homes, or hospice care.

  • Experience with Epic, Outlook, Excel, Cadence scheduling, and electronic records.

  • Previous experience in patient satisfaction/customer service.

  • Bilingual: English/Spanish.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $54,664 - $67,944 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $26.18 - $32.54

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
