UC San Diego is hiring a temporary Custodial Building Maintenance Worker to support campus operations.

Duration: This role is anticipated to last 5-6 months.

Compensation and Benefits: $20.65 - $26.21 per hour depending on experience. This role is eligible for a night shift differential of $1.00.Eligible for Mid-Level Benefits including medical plans, paid holidays, and vacation/sick leave.

Work Schedules: Thursday - Monday 1:30P - 10:00P; Tuesday and Wednesdays Off

Location:100% on-site on campus in La Jolla

DESCRIPTION

This is a hybrid role that will include both maintenance and custodial duties.

Under supervision, the successful candidate will perform various semi-skilled and unskilled building maintenance tasks to ensure the upkeep of campus facilities and assist with campus events. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to the university's teaching, learning, research, and business goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including repairing, remounting, replacing, or installing restroom/showering accessories and fixtures, belts, hoses, clamps, vacuum bags, and squeegees on vacuum cleaners, wet/dry extractors, and floor waxing machines.
  • Operate power and hand tools, such as drills and high-pressure washers, and maintain all equipment.
  • Provide customer service in an efficient, effective, and professional manner to students, staff, faculty, and guests.
  • Complete work orders received in MAXIMO (via computer or handheld technologies) and log time and labor information to complete work orders.
  • Prioritize routine and urgent work orders and maintain a high level of productivity.
  • Operate automotive equipment, such as scooters, trucks, and 1-1/2 ton trucks.
  • Move office furnishings, such as desks, files, and supplies, utilizing flat carts, dollies, pallet jacks, etc.
  • Safeguard keys issued for assigned areas and maintain a functional awareness of typical hazards in the workplace.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in building maintenance or a related field.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license and participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program.
  • DOJ, FBI, and DMV background checks and clearances required prior to hire.
  • Ability to work in morgues/gross anatomy/pathological laboratories where human/animal
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
  • Must be able to work in a variety of environments, including indoor and outdoor areas, and in areas with biohazards, radiation, chemicals, etc.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $43,117 - $54,726 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $20.65 - $26.21

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
