DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision of the Associate Director, Communication and Leadership and Community Service, the Community Service Program Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing co-curricular service learning and social innovation initiatives within the larger community (local, regional, national, and global). Through asset-based community development, this position collaborates with students, staff, faculty, and community partners to create, support, and sustain initiatives that mutually benefit community partners and provide students with community engagement opportunities. This position will identify and establish ongoing partnerships and programs with community and governmental agencies by leveraging community strengths and meeting community needs while advancing the personal and professional development of students.
This position oversees recruitment, development, and training of student leadership for co-curricular service projects and social innovation. Advise student leaders in the development, implementation, and assessment of community service programs and social innovation initiatives such as Alternative Breaks. Coordinate social justice education and personal reflection to enhance student learning and development. Collaborate with colleagues and community partners to develop curriculum and facilitate workshops and trainings on fundamentals of community engagement and community engaged learning.
Responsibilities include site development, identifying and establishing community partnerships, risk management, fundraising and grant writing, providing training and work direction for student leaders, student assistants, graduate assistants (as assigned), program assessment, and providing opportunities for education, training and reflection.
Using knowledge and skills as a seasoned, experienced Student Services professional, performs the full range of duties and responsibilities within a Student Life specialization. Assesses situations and determines appropriate action or referral. Works independently under general supervision to provide information and interpretation of complex policies, procedures and regulations. Identifies and responds to student needs for programs, services, and crisis intervention.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.Master's degree preferred.
Theoretical and operational knowledge of community engagement fundamentals and community service philosophy including frameworks, best practices, and those associated with national and international service programs. Knowledge of local, regional, and national community service trends and issues. Demonstrated experience establishing and developing mutually beneficial partnerships.
Thorough knowledge of Student Affairs / Student Life specialization. Demonstrated theoretical and practical knowledge of student development, leadership, and community engagement and service learning. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the field of diversity, equity, and inclusion, including an understanding of the historical and social context of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and of the complexities of the intersections of identities including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, gender, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, and class background. Substantial experience translating theory to practice in the delivery of co-curricular programs and advising.
Thorough knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Ability to advise and counsel students, ability to provide guidance and advise in all aspects of program planning, budget implementation and evaluation, conflict resolution, problem solving, goal setting, and leadership and organizational development.
Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations, including first-generation college students, low-socioeconomic status students, historically underrepresented students, international students, and transfer students. Ability to assess the needs of various student populations to effectively engage and include diverse communities within community services initiatives.
Abilities in project management, problem identification and reasoning skills. Capacity to perform work independently, initiate and coordinate projects, and supervise persons completing delegated responsibilities. Ability to prepare and manage budgets.
Ability to work collaboratively, using a team approach with multiple stakeholders. Skills to identify existing and potential partnerships and cultivatecollaborative relationships with internal and external constituencies.
Demonstrated high level of skill and experience in public speaking, facilitation, and training. Proven experience in planning, developing, and facilitating workshops, trainings, reflections, and other programming. Strong coaching and instructional skills, organizational abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to quickly assess the program effectiveness and student learning. Demonstrated abilities to make presentations to both large and small groups and to communicate effectively on a one-to-one basis.
Demonstrated highly effective written, oral, interpersonal, group, and cross-cultural communication skills including tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality, while interacting with a variety of individuals and groups within and external to the university community from diverse socio-economic to cultural/ethnic backgrounds. Ability to produce clear, comprehensive written documents and reports in a timely manner.
Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance. Demonstrated a working knowledge of assessment and evaluation strategies, including student learning outcomes. Ability to assess the needs and implement programs and services using data-driven decision-making.
Ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
Strong knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Occasional evenings and weekends may be required. Must be willing and available for some travel during Spring and Summer.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $58,600 - $100,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $28.07 - $48.28
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
