This is a 100% Contract position for 1 year with the possibility of extension or conversion to career status.
DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the College Corps Program Director, the College Corps Assistant Director will use their knowledge and skills as an experienced Student Services professional to perform various duties and responsibilities within the College Corps program. They provide programming, communication, and appropriate interventions to support student College Corps Fellows and the Community Host Partners with whom they are placed to ensure successful program completion and student development. They must regularly assess situations and determine appropriate actions or referrals. This includes case management for all fellows and community partners in crisis and conflict resolution.
The Assistant Director regularly makes independent decisions for the program and its business operations based on department university and grant policies and restrictions. They provide information on complex rules and procedures, advise students, and work with community host partners to ensure compliance. They meet with a caseload of students multiple times each quarter and throughout the year, provide advising as part of the program, and become the point of contact during crisis resolutions on a case-by-case basis. They work with campus partners and represent the program in all business matters. Additionally, the Assistant Directors lead data collection and analysis for formative and evaluative purposes, develop and implement campus-wide and targeted recruitment strategies, recruit and act as a point of contact for community host partners, and create and facilitate training and workshops for students and community host partners.
~The incumbent will be expected to work in person for two days per week on UC San Diego’s main and downtown campuses, with the option to work virtually three days per week.
QUALIFICATIONS
Thorough knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Understanding of student-centered philosophy focusing on student development. Ability to maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive information.
Thorough knowledge of Student Affairs / Student Life specialization. Significant understanding of mid- to low-SES participant recruitment and orientation, program marketing, theory-based social justice curriculum development, presentation development and facilitation, and learning outcome and impact assessment.
Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance. Ability to adapt quickly to new circumstances and develop and apply innovative solutions.
Abilities in project management, problem identification and reasoning skills. Proven communication skills and experience with coalition building with various stakeholders (students, staff, faculty, and community partners).
Social justice champion: Support for social justice efforts and the Changemaker mission of the university.
Diversity support: Knowledge and understanding of the needs of a diverse student population, including undocumented students. Ability to interact with a diverse student population, including individuals from varied racial and socio-economic backgrounds.
Task Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, prioritizing and organizing work to meet deadlines and achieve goals. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to changing priorities and circumstances.
Collaboration and Teamwork: Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team, building strong relationships with colleagues and contributing to a positive and inclusive team culture. Willingness to support and assist team members, share knowledge and expertise, and communicate effectively to achieve common goals.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Overtime and weekends may be required.

Mandated Reporter: This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.
This is a one-year grant-funded position with potential for renewal.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $58,600 - $100,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $28.07 - $48.28
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
