DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the CNA supports the continuum of care by providing basic patient care and assistance with activities of daily living. Performs uncomplicated technical procedures. Participates in performance improvement activities, such as chart audits. Utilizes a variety of technical equipment and supplies. Provides basic patient care support: patient transport, specimen and blood, blood products transport, and inventory management. This position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands, and the ability to work in a team environment.

The CNA participates in a collaborative team environment, including training and evaluation of peers, scheduling of work, and assisting the administrative functions of the unit. Will cross-train for the roles of Hospital Unit Secretary, Continuous Observation Attendant (COA), and Video Monitor Tech. Regularly functions as a patient sitter and observes and monitors patients to ensure their well-being and safety.

The CNA Float Pool is a dynamic and adaptable role within our inpatient hospital setting. As a vital member of our healthcare team, the CNA Float Pool provides essential support across various units, ensuring high-quality patient care and contributing to the overall efficiency of the hospital.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active California CNA license.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Demonstrated ability to observe deviations from normal.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to adapt to different work environments and patient populations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two (2+) or more years of CNA experience in an acute care setting.

  • Previous CNA experience in a psych, behavioral, or memory care facility.

  • Knowledge of Epic, UCSD Paging & Scheduling Systems.

  • Current nursing student enrolled in an RN program.

  • Video monitoring experience.

  • Experience with Epic, UCSD Paging & Scheduling Systems.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Bilingual: Spanish/English.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $47,878 - $59,487 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $22.93 - $28.49

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
