DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision, and in addition to performing the full range of operational level duties, responsible for administering licensed social service programs or relevant work. Provides licensed social work services consisting of discharge planning, continuing care services, and clinical social work services, including crisis intervention, mandated reporting, information and referral, and coordination of health and mental health services with community providers.
The Clinical Social Worker is responsible for working on an LPS Inpatient Acute Adult/Senior Behavioral Health Unit. Providing clinical support to the patient population with individual, group and support interventions, bio-psychosocial assessments, safety planning, crisis intervention, care management, and discharge planning. Weekends, holidays and covering for vacations & sick time. It is also responsible for educating and advocating for patients and families, running support groups, and will be required to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, departments across UC San Diego Health, as well as outside agencies. The Clinical Social Worker II/III participates in related department meetings and functions. This Clinical Social Worker II/III may also be asked to cover other disease teams as needed. Performs all other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Master's degree from an accredited school of social work (MSW) and possession of the requirements necessary for application for licensure as a clinical social worker as determined by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners.
At least two (2) years of post-MSW experience. To be considered for the Clinical Social Worker III, the candidate must have at least three (3) years of post-MSW experience and be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
Must have proven independent thinking, decision-making, problem-solving and prioritizing skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
2 years of post-graduate clinical experience.
2 years experience working with chronic persistent mentally ill or cognitively impaired patient populations or residential experience.
Hospital setting and behavioral health experience.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Depending on the experience of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at a Clinical Social Worker II or Clinical Social Worker III level. The pay scale for the CSWII (2+ years post-MSW experience) is $40.83-$53.78/hour. The pay scale for the CSWIII (with California LCSW) is $45.80-$60.34/hour.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $85,232 - $112,293 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $40.82 - $53.78

The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
