This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Towne Center Drive and remote.

DESCRIPTION

Clinical Informatics Specialist involves developing and implementing the organization's information systems and tools that are applied to clinical information. Works closely with clinicians across all hospital/healthcare departments to optimize effective use of systems. Coordinates analytical support for health management, including profiling, health economics, and business analytics/performance metrics. Defines systems and applications to support various functions. Applies advanced professional clinical informatics concepts and extensive knowledge of industry practices to projects of all levels of scope and complexity.

Works with business, technical, and clinical personnel to independently develop and implement complex clinical informatics solutions and to create integrated architecture to ensure optimal use of tools and components. Collaborates closely with business operations, healthcare clinicians, and IT applications and technical teams to translate operations workflow and patient experience objectives into technical requirements. Works on and may lead project teams that include business and clinical staff to improve clinical informatics planning and systems and to develop metrics and analytics that support health management in making decisions for upgrades and modifications that are cost-effective, scalable, and meet present and future needs.

Advanced skills in performing quality assurance testing of complex scope, runs SQL (Structured Query Language) queries for enhanced medical data access, and writes and maintains appropriate documentation of design and deployment processes, workflows, and results. As necessary, provides support, troubleshooting, problem solving, and instruction for clinical informatics users and participates in curriculum development for user training. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area; plus five (5) years of related experience/training.

  • Professional-level experience working with clinical information systems and developing reports.

  • Professional level experience and proven success performing clinical workflows, user interface optimization, clinical decision support, rules development, data integration and mining, clinical ontologies and adoption of technology.

  • Advanced level capabilities with MS Access and MSSQL server and related technologies.

  • Knowledge and advanced level experience working with Transact SQL, Crystal Reports 11, OLAP structures and/or other related technologies.

  • Advanced knowledge and experience of database management technologies.

  • Extensive experience and working knowledge of all MS office products.

  • Strong project management skills. Ability to work in a group setting and lead projects.

  • Excellent verbal, written communication skills, presentation and report writing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge, experience, and/or certification working with Epic data and Epic Clarity.
  • Advanced level experience with database management and various third-party report building tools such as Tableau, Crystal Reports, Cognos, SAS, and others.
  • Knowledge and advanced level experience working with Transact SQL, and data visualization tools such as Tableau, Crystal Reports 11, OLAP structures and/or other related technologies.
  • Experience in a large, complex healthcare environment.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Will be required to be certified in the assigned EMR vendor's product/module within the first six months of employment. Must satisfy all vendor testing requirements the first time upon attending a vendor's training.
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $78,900 - $179,900 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $37.79 - $86.16

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
