DESCRIPTION

This position is for our UC Health Milk Bank, established in 2020 to connect the power of the UC system, top human milk researchers, and the passion of newborn experts to set the standard in newborn nutrition and milk banking. Our mission is to provide equitable access of high-quality donor milk to vulnerable infants throughout the region. Learn more by clicking here.The business manager is responsible for overseeing the financial and operational functions of the milk bank. They will assist the Executive Director and work collaboratively with the Milk Bank Lab Manager, Sales Manager, and Donor Program Manager.The ideal candidate will:

  • Manage milk bank finances including budgeting, revenue tracking, and cost management to ensure sustainability.
  • Streamline operations, optimize processes, and improve efficiency.
  • Supervise insurance cases and reimbursement for outpatient families.
  • Monitor inventory levels and supply chain logistics including oversight of procurement.
  • Prepare reports regarding the organization’s performance and impact.
  • Develop business and strategic plans for business growth and donor outreach.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Nine (9) years of related business experience, education or training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Public Health or a related field plus Five (5) years of related business experience/training.
  • Proficient computer skills for billing and maintaining milk bank systems and software. Specifically, Excel, financial software, CRM and procurement systems, Tableau, and project management tools. Ability to learn and manage new systems as introduced.
  • Financial and budget management expertise.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational skills, and written and oral communication with the ability to plan, establish, and maintain a professional work environment.
  • Requires attentions to detail, deadline, and accuracy.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA or related masters level degree.
  • Experience in scaling operations, managing growth, and implementing strategic plans.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit financial management, grant funding, and donor relations.
  • Understanding and previous utilization of lean methodology.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to change.
  • Knowledge of marketing and outreach strategies.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $85,400 - $156,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $40.90 - $75.10

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
