DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
Join the Residential, Retail and Supply Chain Services (RRSS) team at UC San Diego, a dynamic and innovative campus department dedicated to delivering exceptional service to the university community. As a valued RRSS team member, you will be contributing to a broad and complex organization consisting of five key units: Housing, Dining and Hospitality (HDH), Integrated Procure-to-Pay Solutions (IPPS), the UC San Diego Bookstore, Triton Print & Digital Media, and the Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC). As a member of the HDH team, you will be part of a self-funded unit with over 900 staff employees, 1,000 student employees, and an annual operating budget of $250 million, providing housing and dining services to over 20,000 students, faculty, staff, and their families. POSITION DESCRIPTION
Perform a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of buildings and related facilities and equipment. May work independently, as part of a regular maintenance crew, or as an assistant to a skilled tradesman. Duties include but are not limited to: installing fire extinguishers and blackboards; cleaning roofs and patio drains, piping, clearing stoppages in sinks and toilets; doing preparatory work for painting projects including washing walls, filling in or smoothing surfaces, masking areas and setting up scaffolding; painting markings on asphalt, concrete floors and similar surfaces; replacing door closers, locks, latches, hinges and other building hardware; making minor repairs to office furniture and equipment; making repairs to fences and gates; operating and maintaining a variety of power and hand tools of the various trades. May drive a truck or other vehicle in the course of duty.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to trouble shoot mechanical problems and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
Technical ability to learn and use a computer and handle device to communicate via email and complete MAXIMO work order.
Ability to provide excellent customer service, including greeting the customers, completing work in a professional, cooperative manner, providing a solution or an estimated time when you can get back to them, and following up till the job is completed.
Demonstrated skill in setting priorities in a changing work environment and assuring these priorities are met.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
Knowledge and ability to use hand tools and utilize equipment common to the building maintenance trade.
Ability to request supplies, maintain inventory, and control stock for assigned areas.
Knowledge and ability to work in a safe manner according to local, federal, state, and university requirements.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Physical ability to perform indicated tasks.
Demonstrated ability to work well in a team or alone and with diverse groups of people.
Ability to safeguard keys issued for assigned areas.
Must have the ability to function effectively as a team member, including working cooperatively and positively with co-workers to achieve unit and area goals.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Must have access to reliable transportation and/or a valid Class C Driver's License to operate a University vehicle. May participate in the DMV Pull program

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $44,412 - $56,376 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $21.27 - $27.00
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
