DESCRIPTION

As the Biomedical Equipment Tech Lead, coordinates all inspection and repair work orders for the Biomedical Repair Technicians to accommodate the needs of the customer and to meet scheduled regulatory maintenance compliance. Performs duties independently with minimal need for assistance or supervision. Coordinates and reconciles scheduled maintenance on vendor serviced equipment to meet regulatory compliance. Completes hazard event and equipment recall actions within the RASMAS Alert Program.

Performs diagnostic trouble-shooting, repair and maintenance of sophisticated and complex electronic, electro-mechanical and mechanical biomedical and laboratory equipment. Examples include ventilators, surgical lasers, patient monitoring systems and other microprocessors, microcomputers and minicomputer based instrumentation. Repairs and maintains other non-direct patient care equipment.

Evaluates new, proposed and existing equipment and related maintenance programs making recommendations for changes. Performs acceptance inspection of new biomedical equipment and ensures equipment meets manufacturers' specifications for safe and proper use. Completes purchase requisitions for parts and supplies. Contributes to continuous quality improvement projects and activities. Fulfills team roles as needed, and performs other related Lead functions as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a formal college-level electronics education; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Three to five (3-5) years of expert-level in medical equipment repair and maintenance in a large, complex Healthcare system.

  • Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology.

  • Prior Biomedical Equipment training in a medical facility.

  • Working knowledge of regulating agencies codes and standards for hospitals and clinics (title 22, TJC, AAMI, NFPA, etc).

  • Ability to work both independently and in a group setting/on group projects.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to display expert judgment and expedient decision making in complex technical equipment repair situations where patient safety may be at risk.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple equipment maintenance and repair projects independently, setting priorities to meet deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BMET 3 experience.
  • AAMI/ICC CBET, CLES.
  • Equipment manufacture training certifications.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Required to be part of the rotating on-call staff covering nights, holidays and weekends.
  • Must be willing to travel for educational purposes.
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Per Biomedical Equipment Services department on-call policy, technician must reside within a safe commutable distance to be able to respond to on-site emergencies within 60 minutes or less.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $116,594 - $144,907 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $55.84 - $69.40

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
