The Center for Healthy Eating and Activity Research in the Department of Pediatrics conducts various behavioral-therapy studies aiming to decrease obesity and overeating in children, adolescents, and adults. The Center also conducts community programs and provides clinical services to children, adolescents, and adults referred from the Department of Pediatrics, Gastroenterology division and other organizations.
Responsible for screening for participant eligibility, data collection and entry, ensuring protocol compliance, monitoring patient treatment, providing intervention and maintenance of accurate and complete clinical research files. Directly communicate with COIs, Project Directors, and other research staff on a regular basis, including attending weekly meetings and completion of required trainings.
Theoretical knowledge of biology, microbiology, social sciences, psychology, clinical sciences as typically attained by a Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience performing clinical research duties in a clinical research environment.
Experience in database, word processing, presentations, and spreadsheet applications such as Velos, Access, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Word.
Excellent interpersonal, as well as written and verbal communication skills (using grammatically correct written English and accurate typing) to interact with a diverse population. Excellent phone etiquette skills.
Ability to work independently. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with diverse groups, including professional and non-professional staff and clients.
Experience in teaching, leading interventions (e.g., counseling, running group classes), and/or conducting assessments (e.g., clinical interviews, assessment tasks in research settings, assessments to determine eligibility for services provided by county, clinics, etc)
- Knowledge of National Institute of Health (NIH), Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Human Resource Protection Program (HRPP).
- Experience with clinical trials participant or study subject recruitment.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
- Pre-employment physical and TB test required.
- Evenings (up to 3 nights/week) and occasional weekends will be required.
- Reliable transportation needed for occasional travel to La Jolla and San Marcos research sites.
- Must be Spanish/English bilingual
