The Audiovisual Team is comprised of AV Design & Installation, Classroom Technology Support and Digital Signage teams. These teams provide audiovisual upgrades, design, and maintenance to over 100 general assignment classrooms, auditoriums, lecture halls and conference room spaces. They act as consultants for the Medical Education Center, Jacobs Medical Center, Jacobs School of Engineering, and the Biomedical Research Facility building. We offer these same services to campus departments via campus recharge.

The AV IT Engineer 4 Supervisor will create AV IT engineering plans and schematics for phase projects. Create Infrastructure drawings based on client’s needs, aligning design with codes, regulations and AV engineering best practices. Communicates to client and monitors projects. Create budget estimates for projects. Review equipment list for installations for a wide variety of UC San Diego campus and UC San Diego Health Department. Oversee and supervise the day-to-day activities for the three teams

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise the Classroom Support team which is responsible for the maintenance and support of the audiovisual equipment in all Registrar assignable classrooms and lecture halls

  • Manage and supervise the Media Services team which provides an array of fee-based audiovisual support and digital signage services for campus departments and organizations

  • Provides calculations, drawing preparation and creation of specifications from small systems to complex video conference room systems ranging in value up to $1,000,000.

  • Produces floor plans and detailed drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams in AutoCAD for audiovisual projects.

  • Creates and edits construction documents using Bluebeam.

  • Manages all phases of audiovisual projects including site survey, obtaining scope, budget, planning, design, bid preparation, and construction schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced knowledge of AV IT design and field implementation. Demonstrated skill and experience at creating AV system line drawings and creating design documentation

  • Demonstrated ability to create AV flow diagrams, schematics and AV infrastructure drawings.

  • Two years’ experience creating electrical infrastructure drawings for an electrical contractor, architect, AV consultant or AV integrator.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.

  • Knowledge of electronics theory with emphasis on audio, video and communications circuitry, AV IT control systems and signal flow. Knowledge of acoustic design theory.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of various computer software programs including but not limited to AutoCAD, MS Office, Outlook, MS Project Management, Excel, Word and Visio.

  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of various computer software programs including but not limited to Bluebeam, AutoCAD, MS Office, Outlook, MS Project Management, and Visio.

  • Strong project management skills needed to assume responsibility for accomplishment of project objectives. Strong creativity and problem-solving abilities to apply principles, practices and procedures within discipline to complete difficult assignments

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $77,000 - $139,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $36.88 - $66.67

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
